This summer sees director Dominik Graf travelling to locations in Berlin and Görlitz for the production of his new feature film, FABIAN, which has been adapted by Constantin Lieb from Erich Kästner’s eponymous satirical novel from 1931. Set in the dying days of the Weimar Republic as the global economic crisis dominated at the end of 1920s, the film centers on the exploits of the 32-year-old advertising copywriter Dr. Jakob Fabian (played by Tom Schilling) in a Berlin teetering on a political, economic and moral abyss.
FABIAN marks the latest collaboration between Lupa Film and Graf after producer Felix von Boehm himself made a film portrait of the director and co-produced his 2015 documentary WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘THE END’? about the late film critic Michael Althen.
