When a Quran is accidentally burned on a film set and crucial footage mysteriously disappears, assistant director Elif is drawn into a whirlwind of shame and suspicion. HYSTERIA is Büyükatalay’s second feature film as a writer-director following his debut ORAY, which received the Best First Feature Award at the Berlinale in 2019 when it premiered in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section.

Another feature-length production of Cologne-based filmfaust GmbH – Cem Kaya’s LOVE, DEUTSCHMARKS AND DEATH - won the Audi­ence Award of the Berlinale’s Panorama section in 2022 and was nominated in the Best Documentary category for this year’s German Film Awards.
