SHORT GERMAN ANIMATIONS IN ANNECY

In 2017, a line-up of nine German animated short films, commissioned films and TV series will be presented in the official selection of the Festival International du Film d’Animation in Annecy (12-17 June 2017), which is one of the most important festivals for animated film worldwide. With NACHTSTÜCK by Anne Breymann and ZUG NACH PEACE by Jakob Weyde and Jost Althoff there are two German animated short films competing for the Cristal d’Annecy in the International Competition. GENO by Dato Kiknavelidze (DE/GE) was selected for the section Short Films Young Audiences. Another two German shorts have been invited to the competition for graduation films: CALL OF CUTENESS by Brenda Lien and SOG by Jonathan Schwenk. Among the commissioned films in competition are ELEMENTAL by Adrian Meyer and SPACE COCKS by Janina Putzker. For the TV films in competition, INUI SHE PUTS THE ICE IN NICE! by Dietmar Kremer (DE/FR) and KLUMP END OF TRACK have been selected. For the tenth time, the AG Kurzfilm – German Short Film Association will once again, together with German Films, participate at the festival’s film market MIFA (Marché International du Film d’Animation). This meeting point for the German and the international animation scene has developed into an asset for its visitors, providing useful information on German animated film, German filmmakers and a range of other important contacts. On the occasion of the festival, the German Short Film Association and German Films will again publish a preview DVD with recent German animated short films. The tenth edition of the DVD New German Animations addresses festival representatives, curators and buyers and is available at the MIFA stand and from the AG Kurzfilm office upon request.
