Until recently Myanmar (also known as Burma) was shut off from the rest of the world by a military dictatorship. Ever since a democratization process started, the country opened up, not only politically but also economically. EVA KNOPF studied at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, UC Berkeley, Georg-August University in Göttingen, and the University of Amsterdam. She worked as a projectionist and teaches in the Visual Media & Anthropology Dept. of the Free University Berlin.
